Ride Part 3 – St Paul to Cleveland OH
Ok, so this covers St. Paul to wherever it gets too full….which is just before Cleveland!
We had a good turn out for our send-off in St. Paul---burgers at Mounds Park. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!!
Dan and his kids and a couple others rode out with Gary from Mounds Park on Sunday....a hot day for a bike ride!!
It was incredibly hot and humid on the way from St. Paul to Red Wing. Gary went through lots of water!! Not a good day for a bike ride.
Betsy parked in front of the Red Wing Post Office
The Red Wing carriers were a great bunch!! Their enthusiasm and support was a wonderful way to start a Monday---thanks Red Wing!!
We got to see our fabulous friend Ernie while in Red Wing, and also his wonderful parents, Georgia and Ernie pictured here with Gary. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!
The ride from Red Wing to Winona was gorgeous...smooth road, clear skies and a tail wind...good day for a bike ride!
I got to ride a total of 13 miles between Red Wing and Winona...it was a beautiful day for a bike ride!
It was beautiful scenery with lake on one side and the hills on the other...
My cousin Jim brought my folks, Lilly and Erlin to just north of Winona to meet us and visit for a bit---it was great to see you guys!! And thanks for the cookies and raspberries...yummy!
All of Gary's biking shirts say this on the back so if you see this, you know it's us!
Gary did two television interviews when we got to La Crosse---with the ABC and CBS affiliates. Tim from WKBT was a lot of fun!!
Tim put on his rollerblades and followed Gary while riding....all while carrying a camera! Got some good footage for the interview too!
This is on the front of the La Crosse Post Office...just took a pic as we were waiting to go in...
This is the La Crosse crew...big, enthusiastic group!
the Wisconsin countryside...
Todd Gruber and Gary outside the Richland Center Post Office---Todd got us set up in Richland Center and we appreciate it! Todd, YOU ROCK!!
Our campsite in Spring Green had a cornfield behind it---Gary's getting set to ride out in the morning....
We had a great reception at the Madison Westside PO on Saturday morning---lots of carriers and good feedback!
There were many carriers at the Westside station and not lots of room, so Gary did his spiel twice!
Here's the first "half" of the Westside crew
Bill Rogers, the Wisconsin state NALC president, went above and beyond for us while we were in Madison. Bill, you're the BEST!!
We had a good time at the Art Fair in the Square!!
We had a lovely view of the lake from Monona Terrace just off the square in Madison---it's a wonderful town!
We had lots of robins around our RV site, and this baby one decided our windshield looked like its nest?!?
Gary and the carriers at the main carrier annex in Madison on the morning we left
We've watched the corn go from small to tall!
Even though we were locked in for the night, we had electricity, television and internet so we were happy campers!
We visited three post offices in downtown Chicago---started our day at the Loop
Jimmie Canada, president of NALC branch 11 and Mark Reynolds, USPS, introduced us and brought us through the morning....
